Artwork by Pamela Enriquez-Courts.
Metallic Acrylic on Canvas Board, 14 × 11 inches.
“Itza and HueHue take a nap and dream of being in magical places where immortal beings live and watch over them. Coyolxāuhqui (Koy-ol-shauw-kee) is the Aztec Goddess of the moon and the Milky Way. She was dismembered by her own brother for rebellion against her mother, Coatlicue. He head was thrown into the sky, where it became the moon, and her discarded body became the stars. Despite all of her dismemberment, she remains a strong and powerful female warrior.”
