Workshop with Stephen Zhang

About the Workshop

This workshop, led by Stephen Zhang, will guide participants in learning the foundational knowledge and processes of portrait painting using a series of structured exercises. The workshop begins with study of head forms and anatomical features, meanwhile addressing light, value, color, and brushwork. It will conclude with a session of painting complete portraits using the knowledge and skills highlighted in the exercises. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of portraiture that they can continue to practice and build on.
